Dear Parent/Carer,

Updated Covid guidance

I hope this letter finds you well and you are rested after the half term break.

On February 24th new guidance was issued in relation to the rules surrounding isolation, the Prime Minister stated ‘until 1 April, we will still advise people who test positive to stay at home’.

In line with this, the following guidance https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-people-with-covid-19-and-their-contacts/covid-19-people-with-covid-19-and-their-contacts was published and states ‘If you have COVID-19 you should stay at home and avoid contact with other people and ‘Children and young people with COVID-19 should not attend their education setting while they are infectious. They should take an LFD test from 5 days after their symptoms started (or the day their test was taken if they did not have symptoms) followed by another one the next day. If both these tests results are negative, they should return to their educational setting if they normally attend one, as long as they feel well enough to do so and do not have a temperature. They should follow the guidance for their educational setting.’

Asymptomatic testing

Staff and pupils in mainstream secondary schools are no longer expected to continue to take part in regular asymptomatic testing and should follow asymptomatic testing advice for the general population. Lateral Flow Tests will no longer be distributed by school.

Further information is available here:   https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/testing/get-tested-for-coronavirus/

School will continue to have the following control measures in place;

1. Ensure good hygiene for everyone.

2. Maintain appropriate cleaning regimes.

3. Keep occupied spaces well ventilated.

4. Follow public health advice on testing, self-isolation and managing confirmed cases of COVID-19.

We will continue to update you as guidance changes.

Kind regards

Dr J Coughlan
