Bishop Challoner Catholic College embarked on a path to attain the status of a Microsoft Showcase School in 2020, initiating the use of Teams for teaching and collaboration during lockdowns. Since then, the school became an incubator school in 2021, and went on to achieve Microsoft Showcase School status in both 2022/23 and 2023/24. The school’s vision is centred around leveraging technology to cultivate a culture of innovation among both students and staff.
Dr James Coughlan, Principal, said “We are a school that is steeped in a rich history in the successful implementation of technology to enhance the experience for our young people and to improve the organisational running of our school. At the heart of all our decision making is the desire to offer an exceptional, immersive learning experience so that our pupils go out and make a real difference in society once they leave our direct care. We recognise that the ever-changing face of technology requires us to continually grow, learn and evolve to meet the demands of the imagined future.”
Luke Ravenscroft, Director of Innovations and Educational AI Research said “Bishop Challoner has always harnessed the power of technology and valued the transformative impact it can have on education. This continued recognition from Microsoft is a testament to the hard work and dedication of a staff body that is consistently engaged and tuned in to the ever-expanding relationship between technology and pedagogy.”
As always with Bishop Challoner Catholic College, we do not stop here. As a Showcase School we want to be a beacon of technological excellence in the Birmingham area, and a trusted source of information and CPD. Our involvement with technology is not done, it will never be. We consistently pilot evidence driven programmes and as a Showcase School we look forward to branching out even more with this work.
