Industrial Action

 

Dear Parent/Carer

Following the announcement of further rounds of industrial action in schools, I am writing to confirm our arrangements for the planned industrial action due to take place on Wednesday 5th July and Friday 7th July.

Please note these are planned arrangements. Should these arrangements change we will of course inform you.

Please read the information below carefully as the arrangements for each day differ slightly

Arrangements for Wednesday 5th July by Year Group

The table below details the arrangements for each year group.

Year 7	Students are not required to attend school and will be provided with remote learning which can be accessed on Class Charts and the school website. https://www.bishopchalloner.org.uk/remote-learning
Year 8	All students are required to attend school as normal
Year 9	Students are not required to attend school and will be provided with remote learning which can be accessed on Class Charts and the school website. https://www.bishopchalloner.org.uk/remote-learning
Year 10	Students will be on work experience and should continue to attend their placement. Year 10 students who are completing their work experience placement in school are not required to attend
Year 12	All students are required to attend school as normal

 

 

 

 

Year 11 and Year 13 students have completed their public examinations and are not required in school

Arrangements for Friday 7th July by Year Group

The table below details the arrangements for each year group.

Year 9	All students are required to attend school as normal.
Year 10	Students will be on work experience and should continue to attend their placement. Year 10 students who are completing their work experience placement in school are not required to attend
Year 12	All students are required to attend school as normal

 Year 11 and Year 13 students have completed their public examinations and are not required in school

There is no requirement for schools to teach the National Curriculum on Wednesday 5th July or Friday 7th July and so the school day may be organised slightly differently for students.

• On Wednesday 5th July the school day will run from 8.40am - 3.10pm for all students.
• On Friday 7th July the school day will run from 8.40am - 2.30pm for all students.

Please be reminded that if school is open for your child you have a legal duty to ensure that they attend.

Extra-curricular provision on Wednesday 5th July and Friday 7th July

There will be no extra-curricular provision either before school or after school on either day

For Wednesday 5th July:

Year 7, 9, and 10 Vulnerable Young People and Critical Workers

• If your child is in Year 7 and 9 and deemed to be a Vulnerable Young Person or you are a critical worker (see Annex A and Annex B below to see if you meet the criteria) then you may request that your child attends school on Wednesday 5th July.
• If your child is in Year 10 (and only if they are completing their work experience placement at the school) and deemed to be a Vulnerable Young Person or you are a critical worker (see Annex A and Annex B below to see if you meet the criteria) then you may request that your child attends school on Wednesday 5th July.

Please use Schoolcomms to advise us that your child will be attending school by no later than Monday 3rd July. Please also indicate your status as a keyworker in the comment section.

Year 7, 9 and 10 vulnerable young people and critical workers will be required to bring in their PE kits on the day.

Free School Meals

For students in Year 7, 9, and 10 that are not attending school on Wednesday 5th July, but require a free school meal, please contact the school on 0121 444 4161 no later than Monday 3rd July to advise that you would like to collect a meal on the day.

For Friday 7th July:

Year 7, 8, and 10 Vulnerable Young People and Critical Workers

At the time of writing there are no plans for further industrial action. However, should this change we will advise you of the arrangements the school is making.
